Just how far would one go to steal goods from a supermarket? Well, if current estimates are anything to go by, shoplifting is no longer a petty crime but one carried out by gangs and cartels out to fleece supermarkets of billions of shillings. Leading local retailers are now sounding the alarm over increased cases of operational losses occasioned by shoplifting and general theft amid fears that organized groups are increasingly targeting local supermarkets, costing the industry more than 3 billion shillings annually in lost revenues. Evelyn Wambui has exclusive footage of such organized crime caught on camera and what it means to the industry.
