Prosthetics for pup injured by drug gang A dog in Mexico has been given a new lease on life after receiving prosthetic legs. It's a happy ending for Pay de Limon, spanish for Lemon Pie, who fell victim to criminal gang violence. Thanks to Milagros Caninos, a rescue shelter which means canine miracles, owner Patricia Ruiz says Lemon Pie is running on all fours. (SOUNDBITE) Patricia Ruiz, founder, Milagros Caninos Shelter, saying (Spanish): "Pay de Limon had the misfortune of running into an organized crime group, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, and they used him to practice cutting off each one of his paws, like they do when they cut fingers off human beings that have been kidnapped. Unfortunately, Pay de Limon had to live through that, but thanks to a few good people who rescued him, Pay de Limon was able to come to Milagros Caninos and here we try to give him the best life possible." The organization was able to raise over 80000 pesos or over $6000 US dollars for canine prosthetics - a new beginning for Lemon Pie who is now running with a friendlier pack.
