China and Kazakhstan have upgraded their relationship, vowing to develop an all-round strategic partnership and strengthen their cooperation in economy, trade, environment protection and other fields. A joint statement was issued on the new partnership between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Kazakh counterpart, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in the Kazakh capital of Astana Tuesday. The statement said the two countries will strive to deepen pragmatic cooperation in the international arena. To do this, the two countries have agreed to establish regular meetings between their prime ministers. The two sides also pledged to enhance the efficiency of the China-Kazakhstan Cooperation Committee. The two countries vowed to continue to cooperate closely to fight the terrorism, separatism, extremism and cross-border organized crime. They also agreed to continue working together in energy. With regard to multilateral frameworks, the two countries vowed to continue strengthening their work in world bodies such as the United Nations, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
