Greek Premier Venizelos , instigated by the British had sent his troops to win what remains of Turkey now after WWI .The Greek troops almost reached Ankara .Under Ataturk's personal charge the Greeks were driven into Mediteranne .
Before WWII , seeing the coming catastrophe  , Ataturk asked his no2 Ismat Inonu to keep out of WWII , not to be taken over by the Nazis and then liberated by the Soviets . Ataturk invited Venizelos for a visit so that they could coordinate and keep out of the war .Greeks failed .
There are no permanent enemies only permanent national interests .
President Inonu afetr Ataturk's death kept Turkey out of WWII carnage .
