Over 46 Million U.S. Americans without Health Insurance

Washington, June 19 (Prensa Latina) Over 46 million U.S. Americans -one in seven-were uninsured in 2011, says a study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

The study also revealed that 58.7 million people (19.2 percent of the population) said it had no health insurance at some time in 2010.

As for those under 18 years, the survey showed that the seven percent of that group was not insured, as well as 27.9 percent of young people between 19 and 25 years old.

The document also says the most affected in all cases are the poor, Latin Americans, and unemployed.

This survey was released in the midst of the tension generated by the expected decision of the Supreme Court of Justice of the United States over whether ObamaâÖs health care reform violates the Constitution.

An eventual ruling of unconstitutionality against the law, popularly known as "ObamaCare" will represent the legal helplessness of nearly 50 million U.S. Americans without health insurance.
