USA Department of State report on human rights untrustworthy

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - The annual report on the state of human rights around the globe that was released by the USA Department of State the day before is untrustworthy, Andrei Savinykh, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, told BelTA as he commented on the document.

"The mechanism to collect information and the procedure to compile the report disallow treating the document as a trustworthy one," said Andrei Savinykh. This is the reason why the Foreign Ministry sees no need to comment on the document's content.

"The United States of America is well-known for its use of human rights matters as an instrument of political manipulation. The USA understands perfectly well that by doing it they destroy trust and slow down real progress in this area. Purely national  short-lived benefits are obviously more important for them than principles of steady international development. It is one of the manifestations of the crisis of the American statehood, which is disinclined to accept multipolarity and diversity of ways of development in the modern world," said the Foreign Ministry spokesman.
