CONCEPT Ciudad Juárez, Mexico has been a victim of organized crime since 2007. Over 3000 people were murdered in 2010 and hundreds have fled the city, leading to numerous of abandoned homes, the closing of many businesses, and economic instability. TREATMENT The documentary will look in depth at the border city and why and how the inception of drug-related violence sparked in it. It will focus on a few people who have been affected by the violence in different ways, such as the death of a family member or friend, a kidnap, the financial disaster of a business, or simply how lifestyle has changed since it all began. It will explain why Juárez became a hotspot for the drug cartels, how the government is involved, and it will take a look at criminals who have taken advantage of the situation to cause harm. A small crew will fly to neighboring El Paso, Texas and record multiple interviews both in El Paso and Juárez and get B-Roll of the epicenter of violence, which an article from realclearworld.com calls the second most dangerous city in the world. The purpose of this documentary is to share with the world stories about people who have experienced and been a part of this vicissitude. We need your help to provide transportation, shelter, and food to the crew, who will be spending four days in the border cities.
