Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, this character first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #14 in July of 1964. Norman Osborn was an industrialist, head of OSCORP and father of Peter Parkers best friend, Harry Osborn, who took a serum which enhanced his physical abilities and intellect but also drove him to insanity. Based on the monster he feared in his childhood, he adopted a Halloween-themed appearance, dressing in a goblin costume and riding on a bat-shaped 'Goblin Glider'. He used an arsenal of high-tech weapons, notably grenade-like 'Pumpkin Bombs', to terrorize New York City with the goal of becoming boss of the city's organized crime.
