A TripAdvisorâ„¢ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Sorrento, Italy by TravelPod blogger Josh.lambden titled "Sorrento and Southern Italy" Josh.lambden's travel blog entry: "Our first day was mostly a day of travel. We got up and headed to our train from Florence to Napoli (Naples). The journey was about 4 hours with a quick stop at Rome. Napoli train station (and in general) is notorious for its crime, both petty and Mafia related. There were lots of shady looking individuals at the train station ... of course everyone can look like a potential pick pocket when you've been told in advance to be on guard for pick pockets. In the end I guess if you just look like you're on guard they probably just pick an easier target. In Napoli we transferred to the local train to Sorrento, which took us another 70 minutes. It took us awhile to find our hotel as there aren't many street signs in Sorrento and when we finally did (ended up being pretty close to the train station if we had known where to go) we were ready for a nap! After that we got up, found a late pasta supper and then walked the streets of Sorrento. Sorrento is a very touristy place on the ocean with lots of shopping (most of it pricey), restaurants and such. Even the main street looks like it's a pedestrian only street because there are so many people. Locals just know not to use that street if you don't have to and everyone moves out of the way if there is a car coming through. Today we had a nice sleep in before ...
