Paul Verhoeven's classic 1987 sci-fi thriller introduced us to Robocop, a pretty much invincible law-enforcing cyborg made of science and pieces of a murdered police veteran, and charged with the task of saving a future-Detroit that is overrun with organized crime. Street-wise Officer Anne Lewis is the only one who recognizes Robocop as her former partner Alex Murphy, and later helps Robo-Murphy take down the crime boss who murdered him. Murphy and Lewis are a classic team and one of the few male-female police duos in Hollywood cinema. But in the 2013 remake, reports indicate Anne Lewis will be recast as a man. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Kenneth Williams is in talks to play Murphy's as-yet-un-named partner, opposite The Killing's Joel Kinnaman. You may have seen Williams as a racketeer on 'Boardwalk Empire,' a thief-with-a-conscience on 'The Wire,' or an ex-con professor on 'Community,' so it should be interesting to see Williams on the other side of the law.
