As an eye-witness at Occupy Oakland, I'm here to report that the encampment was peaceful, well-organized and purposeful -- and that there was absolutely no need for the violence that occurred on 10-25-11. It left Iraqi veteran Scott Olsen with a brain injury, hospitalized and in critical condition. Others were also hurt and everyone was traumatized. The leaders of this movement are young, intelligent and organized. The egalitarian nature of their general assemblies is simply astounding. Last night the crowd was respectful, attentive and ready to work. The 99% know that the system is broken. It is set up so that robbing from the 99% and giving to the rich is a matter of course. Therefore it almost doesn't matter who is in office. Democrat, Republican, Independent -- it's all shades of grey -- because they are all embedded in the broken system and are required to maintain it. People and corporations with vast amounts of wealth have been able to create this system that siphons money from the majority and into the pockets of the rich. That said, I don't think this nation is anti-corporation -- just anti-corporate crime. Support Occupy Oakland. Please don't believe the propaganda.
