This forum was organized after months of repressive actions by police and government against the Occupy Eureka protest in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse and Jail. On March 27, 2012, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors passed a permanent "emergency" ordinance (avoiding any public process) in an attempt to outlaw Occupy Eureka out of existence. The ordinance prohibits and/or unreasonably limits first amendment activities at the most central and traditional forum for protest and first amendment activity in Humboldt County. Occupy Eureka, at the time of this posting, continues as a 24/7 protest for 192 days in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse and Jail.
