In remembrance of the Mullivaikal Massacre, 8 Ngos from Johor organized Candle Light Vigil to remember more than 40000 innocent Eelam Tamil people who were slaughtered by the Sri Lankan army during the war against Tamil Tiger. Among the Ngos present was Persahabatan Semparuthi, Suara India Malaysia, Persatuan Tamil Neri, Yayasan Tamil Malaysia, Sekretariat Pemuliharaan Kaum Tamil Sedunia and others. Besides candle vigil, representative from each Ngos gave a brief speech about the tragic event. Approximately 100 people gathered to show support. En.Rosli from Parti Islam Malaysia who joined the vigil condemned the act of Sri Lankan army and demanded justice for the innocent victims. The organizer demanded an international war crime investigation launched with support of all nations of the world and demanded the entire nation that supported Sri Lankan government to be responsible for thousands of Tamils who now is displaced and live in fear of police and army. In the recent 196-page war crime report by United Nation, it is stated that more than 40000 people brutally killed and 57th regimen is mainly responsible for the killings. It is also reported that banned weapon such as cluster bombs were used widely against the people. Later after a request from police, the vigil ended up peacefully without any unwanted incident.
