May 6, 2010 - Missouri Baptist University's community outreach initiative, the House of Worship Crime Prevention Workshop, allowed key members of area churches, synagogues and other religious institutions to hear from presenters including the FBI, St. Louis County Police, St. Louis City Police and other law enforcement agencies on how to make their houses of worship safer. More than one hundred attendees were on hand for the event, organized by MBU's Director of Public Safety, Stephen Heidke. Heidke, a 1977 graduate of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Academy in Jefferson City, Missouri, spent the first 25 years of his stellar career working in local and state law enforcement. He also obtained an undergraduate degree in Traffic Administration and Management from the National Traffic Management Institute at Central Missouri State University in 1981.
