By Mike Clary, Sun Sentinel 11:24 am EDT, April 19, 2011 FORT LAUDERDALE— The man accused of fatally stabbing well-known drummer and music promoter Jimmy Pagano and slashing four others went on a rampage in a North Beach club because, police said, he was upset over his bar tab. "Nobody's life is worth a dispute over a bar bill," said Fort Lauderdale Police Sgt. Frank Sousa. On Tuesday, Fort Lauderdale police announced that Brian Edward Krebs, 38, has been charged with one count of premeditated murder and and four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He remains at Broward General Medical Center in police custody. Krebs is being treated for injuries he apparently received early Sunday at Fishtales when he brandished a knife after getting into an argument with the bartender over his bill, according to police. The fight broke out just before 3:30 am, after Pagano and his group, the Untamed Band, had finished a final set and packed up their instruments and equipment. The others wounded by Krebs, police said, were employees and bar patrons who tried to subdue him. Krebs' residence is listed as a beachside Galt Ocean Mile condominium just blocks from the bar, one of several restaurants and late-night watering holes that have fueled a bustling nightlife scene in the North Beach area.
