InsideOut Moss Side is a collaboration between St Mary's Primary School in Moss Side and locally based Alexandra Arts. We participated this spring with 16 portraits as part of global art project InsideOut- by street artist JR winner of the 2011 TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) prize. www.insideoutproject.net This gave InsideOut Moss Side an opportunity to show a different side, a more positive image of Moss Side. Which is often associate with gang culture. On the back of this, we decided to continue this journey. Running over a whole term; this process involved all 360 students and 40 staff at St Mary's, the organized coffee mornings saw 80 families come into the school and our outreach teams connected with another 70 community members. The launch of phase two of the project kicked off with a bang, as we were allowed to showcase part of the documentation of our InsideOut journey at the Withworth Art Gallery, Manchester.
