Gunmen in three vehicles arrived at the soccer game and opened fire - at players and spectators - instantly killing three youths. Four others died from gunshot wounds later in the hospital. Distraught residents and relatives stood at the crime scene trying to comprehend what had happened. The soccer field was inaugurated four months ago as part of a campaign named "We are all Juarez." The local government hoped that promoting the sport would help stem drug violence.
