Grocery store shooting victim in grave condition By: ctvbc.ca Date: Saturday Feb. 7, 2009 5:09 PM PT A man shot while sitting in his truck in a busy suburban Langley mall parking lot Friday remains near death, police say. RCMP won't identify the man but CTV has learned he is 26-year-old Kevin LeClair, a known associate of Abbotsford's notorious Bacon brothers -- who face gun and drug charges and whom police say have being targeted by rivals. "At this point we have not confirmed the identity of the victim other than to say he's certainly well known to police agencies in the Lower Mainland and is directly affiliated very strongly to a particular organized crime group," Cpl. Peter Thiessen said Saturday. Thiessen said two gunmen apparently fired multiple shots from prohibited weapons at a truck outside the mall's IGA supermarket as shoppers were getting their weekend groceries. The shooters then fled in a waiting vehicle that may have had other suspects. The victim was rushed to hospital in "extremely critical" condition and "his survivability is questionable," Thiessen said. Thiessen did not know if police had been able to speak to the man. Investigators did interview about 40 witnesses. "It's a busy area on a Friday afternoon," said Thiessen. "It's busy most days but Friday's even busier and there was a considerable amount of people around, which is obviously concerning."
