LA GRANGE, Texas (KXAN) - The Fayette County Sheriff's Office on Thursday seized a La Grange convenience store along with several machines officials said were used a illegal gambling devices and charged the store owner with engaging in organized crime. Sheriff Keith Korenek said the seizure came after his office conducted a search of the store known as "The Point" at 1200 E. Loop 543. "This was one of seven search warrants executed simultaneously from Williamson, Bastrop and into Fayette Counties," Korenek said. "This search warrant was a result of an almost two year investigation into gambling, money laundering, and multiple violations of Tax laws." Navaid Ahmed Khan, 47, of Bastrop, was arrested and charged with gambling promotion and engaging in organized crime. Korenek said more charges are expected to be filed through the State Comptroller's Office for taxing violation. Two other Fayette County residents are expected to be charged with engaging in organized criminal activity over the next week, the sheriff said.
