Safeway spent $620K lobbying government in 4Q

Safeway Inc. spent $620,000 lobbying federal agencies in the fourth quarter, according to a recent disclosure report. The Pleasanton, Calif., grocery company lobbied on legislation involving food safety, health care reform, organized crime in retail and other matters, according to a report it filed Jan. 20 with the House clerk's office.
